It's become clear that my drive for success has affected my relationships. Simone has suffered for my lack of attention, certainly. I haven't seen Reese or Beckett in months, nor Pansy since our dinner and subsequent drinks with her prat boyfriend.

I'm having serious doubts about my decision to become a member of a certain silver-clad society. They've helped me get my practice to where it is today, but the members I've come in contact with seem to have a common thread of madness. Megan Jones, Tracey Goyle, Cormac McLaggen.

Alright, McLaggen's not insane, just a prick. Still, it makes me uneasy to have him living with Pansy. I need to speak to her. Maybe have her over and see if she'll be more forthcoming than she was at dinner.

Went to the Ministry today and got Reese's floo set up. Might have to stop by and check on her. She got upset the last time I saw her. I think Beckett might be a bit annoyed with me, too. He'll get over it, though. It's common courtesy not to shag a man's secretary. Even if Fiona is a rather tasty morsel.

Speaking of shagging, Merlin knows I could use some. Where does a workaholic solicitor find a date these days?

Tracey Goyle has been returned to Britain, although the Ministry neglected to inform me until this morning. Will have to re-arrange my schedule for Monday morning so that I can petition for her release. The woman's been in custody for bloody months. She's been unable to properly grieve her husband's death, Muggle-lover though he was, all for a momentary lapse in judgment while she was overwrought with shock and emotional distress.

Yes, that's the argument I'll make.

Received a note from Padma. Apparently she's interested in Corner. We were never serious, so if that's what she wants more power to her. Will never understand the appeal, though. Corner's a sulky arsehat who treated Susie poorly from what I saw, and Padma knows first hand that he was unfaithful to Suse. She thinks he'll be different with her? Women believe what they like, I suppose. Daft cows.

I met with Pansy to go over the details of the Goyle estate and over the course of our conversation it became clear that she knows about the Liberi. At first thought she might've been clued in by Mrs. Goyle, before her incarceration, obviously, but it seems that she's been dating Cormac McLaggen. I spoke with him, trying to impress upon the bloke that both he and Pansy need to be more discreet. You'd think after seeing Megan Jones in all her madness at the trial McLaggen would realize that not all Liberi members are harmless. The man is an arrogant arse, though. He wouldn't listen to reason at all. Which part of 'secret society' does the man not understand? Bloody Gryffindors, not an ounce of common sense among them.

This weekend I'm to escort Simone to Gwenog Jones' birthday party and scout her out for potential recruitment. I don't much care whether Miss Jones is suitable or not, but it's been ages since I've been to a good party.

The Jones/Goldstein trial is finished. I did my job; they will not be Kissed. I can't say I'm sorry they'll both be in Azkaban for the rest of their days. I might have to send a note to the GM. What sort of group is this that recruits the likes of Megan Jones? I am disinclined to offer my services to any more of the criminally insane Children.

Padma mentioned cooking for me. Should probably owl her and make sure she's not too disheartened over the trial. She did a brilliant job, but the Liberi and the law were on my side.

This week has been insane. Much like the two murderers I'll be defending tomorrow. That's my angle at any rate. I don't see any way they could avoid Azkaban - not that I want to have either of them back on the street - but I'm being paid very well to ensure they avoid the Dementor's Kiss.

Padma is the prosecutor, oddly enough. That should keep things interesting. I've seen her in court before and she's quite skilled. I always liked a challenge. Hope she wears a short skirt. Those legs...

Ran into Susie, her boyfriend, and Pansy Parkinson last week. Corner arrived with a stick in his arse and I took great pleasure in prodding him with it. Apparently he ran around on Susie with Padma not long ago. I'll be doing my best to make sure that doesn't happen again. Not that I'm terribly concerned. I don't see what attraction the sulky arse would hold for a woman like Padma.
